Report: Former LSU RB Derrius Guice could make preseason debut this week
Last year, former LSU RB Derrius Guice tore his ACL during the preseason and missed the entire regular season.
As he worked his way back to health for the Washington Redskins this summer, he suffered a setback in the form of a hamstring injury, which has kept him out so far this preseason.
Now, though, it appears he’s on the verge of returning. Per NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Guice is supposed to play this week against the Atlanta Falcons:
Note after a day at the #Redskins: The tentative plan is for RB Derrius Guice (knee surgeries) to get some work in the preseason game vs the #Falcons, I’m told. It’ll likely be his only action of the preseason but getting some contact before the regular season would be important.

Coach Jay Gruden said the team is just waiting for final clearances from the medical staff:
Jay Gruden said RB Derrius Guice still hasn’t been cleared for full contact but he said he should be OK soon. “Just waiting for the green light,” Gruden said.

Guice showed a ton of talent in college at LSU, but he’s been unable to get on the field for the Redskins. Hopefully that changes as he enters Year 2 with Washington this fall.
