The LSU Tigers have their defensive coordinator in place, bringing in Daronte Jones from the NFL ranks to replace Bo Pelini.

Now, they’re working on finalizing the rest of their coaching staff, and they’re reportedly bringing in an experienced assistant from the ACC ranks to coach linebackers.

Per Sports Illustrated’s Ross Dellenger, coach Ed Orgeron and the Tigers are finalizing a deal with Miami DC Blake Baker:

Dellenger says Baker is expected to have more responsibilities than a normal LB coach, but we’ll have to wait to see what those are exactly.

For now, though, it’s another experienced coach that Orgeron is adding to his staff. We’ll see how Daronte Jones and the LSU defense fare in 2021.

UPDATE: LSU has confirmed the hiring of Baker.
