LSU sophomore LB, former 5-star recruit enters NCAA transfer portal
After a national championship season at LSU, a former 5-star recruit is reportedly considering transferring out to finish his college career elsewhere.
Shea Dixon of 247Sports was the first to report that outside linebacker Marcel Brooks has entered his name into the NCAA’s transfer portal. As many fans are aware, entering the transfer portal does not bound a player to leave the program. Brooks may opt to withdraw and remain a Tiger.
As a class of 2019 prospect, Brooks was rated 5-stars, the No. 2 outside linebacker and No. 32 prospect overall nationally on the 247Sports Composite. Out of Flower Mound, Texas, the Marcus High School product collected 21 scholarship offers, including Alabama, Florida, Ole Miss and Texas A&M. Dennis Johnson and Dave Aranda, now at Baylor, are listed as Brooks’ primary LSU recruiters. The previous Baylor staff also offered Brooks a scholarship.
As a freshman, Brooks played in 11 games, recording 8 total tackles and 1.5 sacks.
