The SEC Championship Game is set and it’ll feature No. 1 Georgia vs. No. 7 LSU from the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta.

Pending any further injuries, Georgia is expected to be favored in the conference championship. However, the SEC Network’s Richard Johnson identifies a key that could propel LSU to capture the crown.

Johnson believes freshman linebacker Harold Perkins Jr. will be the X-Factor for the Tigers.

“I think you sic Harold Perkins Jr. on Stetson Bennett and you say ‘Gawn do it…We’re going to talk about Harold Perkins and his suite of his skills in the future,” Johnson said. “But Harold Perkins hassling Stetson Bennett all around the yard. I think that could be an interesting subplot.”

Perkins Jr. is coming off an epic performance in LSU’s 13-10 victory at Arkansas. The 6-foot-2, 220-pound Perkins racked up 4 sacks in the win while battling flu-like symptoms.

Georgia beat host Mississippi State 45-19 in its most recent outing.

LSU leads the all-time series 18-13-1 vs. Georgia, with victories in the last 2 contests. In the last square off, LSU topped Georgia 37-10 in the 2019 SEC title game.

The SEC Championship Game is slated for Dec. 3 and will kickoff at 4 p.m. ET. Coverage will be televised on CBS.
