Stephen A. Smith gave his thoughts on the recent beef between LSU’s Angel Reese and Iowa’s Caitlin Clark. Smith spoke about where he stands on Monday’s version of the ESPN show “First Take.”

After LSU’s 102-85 win over the Hawkeyes Reese made the John Cena “you can’t see me” gesture toward Clark. Both Reese and Clark had solid outings. Reese had 15 points and 10 rebounds, while Clark finished with 30 points, 8 rebounds, and 2 assists.

Smith praised Clark but sided with Reese and the Tigers. Smith stated that Clark started the drama first.

“I love Caitlin Clark, I think she’s spectacular. When you can pull up from the parking lot like Steph Curry, I think that’s something that you can transition to the next level and it’s going to be spectacular to see and I can’t wait to see it. Here’s the reality of the situation: Clark instigated this kind of stuff,” explained Smith. “How about what she did to Raven Johnson? She didn’t just not guard her, she waved Johnson off in the national semifinal.”

Following Reese’s gesture towards Clark, many people on Twitter called out the LSU forward’s antics, calling it disrespectful. Reese fired back and said that she was happy to have a part in growing the game.

Do you agree with Smith’s take on the situation?
