As LSU looks to open up its playbook and develop a stronger passing attack, it will likely have to do so without a coveted receiver prospect.

Stephen Guidry, the nation’s No. 1 JUCO wide receiver prospect, reopened his recruitment on Saturday, and it doesn’t appear that he has any plans to pledge to the Tigers again anytime soon.

Guidry was originally a member of LSU 2017 class, but the 4-star receiver did not sign his letter of intent on National Signing Day. The 6-foot-4, 190-pound receiver was not academically eligible to enroll at LSU in February, and he had postponed his enrollment until December.

This isn’t the first time that Guidry has de-committed from the Tigers. He backed out of his pledge last fall, only to re-commit to LSU a couple months later. It remains to be seen if Guidry is done with the program for good, but this isn’t a great sign.

The Tigers had two receivers in their 2017 class, Mannie Netherly and Racey McMath, but the loss of Guidry will hurt. The receiver position will be an important one for the upcoming recruiting cycle, and Guidry was a player who could have contributed immediately.
