When Tommy Tuberville weighs in on an SEC game, fans should listen. After coaching in the SEC for over a decade, the former Ole Miss and Auburn coach now works in the media covering the league. He’s clearly someone that knows the SEC, having been associated with it for some time.

Tuberville also knows how dangerous taking a team into Death Valley on a Saturday night can be, even for the most talented of teams.

That’s something the former SEC coach brought up during a Monday appearance on Arkansas radio program Sports Talk with Bo Mattingly. After discussing the obvious candidates that look to be in the discussion to make the College Football Playoff, Alabama, Notre Dame, Michigan and Clemson Tuberville cautioned the show’s host, Mattingly, not to overlook the Tigers.

“Don’t forget about LSU now, they could pull off an upset,” Tuberville said.

Mattingly then asked the former coach how the Tigers could get that done on Saturday.

“They got the DBs to do it and the front four on defense,” Tuberville answered. “The only problem is, I don’t think they can score enough points if Tua (Tagovailoa) gets hot. But they have enough defense to get them in there in the mid-20s. Can Joe Burrow get it done and not turn the ball over? Keep Tua off the field and score in the 20s, too? That will be interesting to see. That’s going to be a great game.”

You won’t see many people believing LSU can get the big win this weekend but there is some faith that the upset can happen from someone that’s spent a great deal of his professional life in the SEC. Judging by recent comments made by Ed Orgeron and his players, they don’t seem to have any fear of Alabama, which may be half the battle when facing Nick Saban’s team.
