WATCH: Donte Jackson explains why he ran the 40-yard dash again at LSU's pro day
At the NFL Combine, LSU DB Donte Jackson had high hopes for the 40-yard dash, as he said he felt he could break John Ross’s record.
Though he came up short, his 4.32-second mark was still tied for the best at the entire event. Still, he decided to run the 40 again on Wednesday at LSU’s pro day.
This time, Jackson ran it in 4.31 seconds. In the video below, he explains why he decided to run again, potentially risking a fall in the pre-draft rankings:
Why would Donte Jackson want to run the 40 again after setting the fastest time at the NFL Combine?
Just wanted to see if he could beat it.

Obviously, Jackson was probably hoping for a slightly better performance, but the fact that he shaved .01 seconds off his time is still impressive.
Now, it’s up to NFL teams to decide how high they want to take the speedy defender out of Baton Rouge.
