LSU kicker Cole Tracy is one of the new stars in the SEC, especially after his game-winning kick to beat Auburn.

But even around campus, Tracy may as well be in witness protection. Even within mere inches of other students, Tracy is not recognized. That is, until he finally explains himself.

“If I was standing 12 inches away from you, would you know I was Cole Tracy?,” he said.

“Ummm … no,” said one student he interviewed.

“Does that name ring a bell?”

“No.”

Tracy did happen upon an appreciative fan.

“I’d love to meet him just to get to know him.”

“Yeah, well, Cole Tracy, nice to meet you,” Tracy said.

One of the top kickers in Division II, Tracy joined LSU as a graduate transfer after he led D-II in field goals (27) and field goal percentage (93.1).

Even before the Auburn kick, Tracy had a strong start to the season with four field goals against Miami.

That’s sparked LSU fans to flood his former school, Assumption College in Massachusetts, with donations. The Advocate reported that donations topped $14,000 as the fans wanted to share their appreciation for Assumption sending Tracy to LSU.
