Will LSU jump Alabama Sunday for No. 1? Reaction from around the country
The LSU Tigers remained undefeated Saturday by beating Auburn 23-20.
No, LSU didn’t play its best game, but it was good enough against perhaps the best defense it will face all season. Joe Burrow finished 32-of-42 for 321 yards and one touchdown, and running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire finished with 26 carries for 136 yards and one touchdown.
It’s hard to go undefeated in any conference, especially the SEC, and the Tigers have managed to do just that thus far.
Currently, LSU is ranked No. 2 in the Associated Press’ Top 25, but with its win over Auburn, LSU has now beaten three top 10 teams (at the time of playing them); Texas and Florida are the other two.
Is that enough to jump Alabama for No. 1? We’ll find out Sunday. Remember the first College Football Playoff rankings won’t debut until November 5.
Here’s reaction from around the country:
No. 1.

Name a better resume… pic.twitter.com/sYNct8jzPE

LSU absolutely deserves #1. Even IF they lose to Bama, they should still make the CFP off résumé alone.

LSU has the best resume thus far, no reason to have them anywhere but 1st in this next poll

LSU should not have to beat Bama to make the playoff. They will smoke Ole Miss, Arkansas, and Aggies. 11-1 with tough schedule should be enough. Ohio State /PSU winner and Bama are only teams (should they beat LSU) that I’d argue would have a better resume.

LSU and Alabama this year might be the first time two SEC teams in the playoff would be justifiable. LSU has the best resume in the country right now and it's not all that close.

3 top 10 wins for LSU this season. Impressive resume compared to every other team in CFB playoff contention.

LSU is the number 1 team in the nation you gotta give them their ranking in the polls now! Theres no question in this the resume speaks for itself so far!

LSU should make the playoff whether they beat Bama or not. Outside of Ohio State there isn’t anyone else close to them from a resume.
