Ole Miss vs. Mississippi State
Properly named the Egg Bowl, the Ole Miss vs. Mississippi State game has been one of college football’s most heated rivalries. Separated by just 101 miles, it’s a physical matchup every time these 2 teams step on the field together.
Ole Miss and Mississippi State first played one another in 1901, with Mississippi State winning 17-0. Since 1927, the 2 teams have played for the “Golden Egg” Trophy. Historically, the Egg Bowl was played on Thanksgiving from 1998 to 2003. Thankfully, the game has been moved back to Thanksgiving in recent history. However, in 2024, it will be played on the Friday after Thanksgiving.
The Ole Miss vs. Mississippi State rivalry is the 10th longest uninterrupted series in the United States.
This series has had many twists and turns. Most recent, however, was the Piss, the Miss and the Double Dismiss. Elijah Moore’s dog piss touchdown celebration will be talked about for a long, long time.
