Jim Harbaugh is reportedly traveling to Minnesota for an interview with the Vikings on Wednesday, which is also National Signing Day, but a report suggests that it’s a formality.

Harbaugh will travel to Minnesota planning to sign a deal to become the NFL Vikings’ head coach, according to a report from The Wolverine. Harbaugh was not in his office at Schembechler Hall on Tuesday. Other sources told TheWolverine that while he didn’t address the team, he did say some “goodbyes” and “thank yous” yesterday.

Until then, it had been business as usual, with Harbaugh recruiting and making his spring schedule.

Harbaugh was linked to the Las Vegas Raiders in December, with many believing he was the franchise’s top candidate. The Miami Dolphins opening emerged, but owner and Michigan booster Stephen Ross vowed he “wouldn’t be the one to take Harbaugh from Michigan.”

There is a connection for Harbaugh in Minnesota.

The 58-year-old Harbaugh could be a good fit with Adofo-Mensah, who is a first-time GM at age 40. Adofo-Mensah started working in the research and development department with the San Francisco 49ers in 2013, when Harbaugh was in his third of four seasons coaching the team, the Associated Press reported.

Harbaugh is 61-24 with the Wolverines, who he led to a win over rival Ohio State last season for the first time under his guidance. They went on to end a school-record, 17-year streak without a Big Ten championship and made the four-team national playoffs for the first time in eight years under the current format.
