Dak Prescott criticized for disregarding coronavirus measures, throwing party with reported 30 guests
Dak Prescott is in the headlines for the wrong reason this weekend.
The former Mississippi State standout and current Dallas Cowboys quarterback reportedly hosted a party for 30 guests, disregarding Texas Gov. Greg Abbott’s March 31 executive order to minimize social gatherings and in-person contact with people who are not in the same household.”
TMZ Sports broke the news of the party. The outlet obtained a brief video from the party and multiple photos, including a dining table set for 10 guests sitting much closer than the recommended six feet apart.
Unsurprisingly, Prescott is facing criticism for hosting the gathering, reportedly a birthday party for a friend, at his Texas home. Pro Football Talk titled its story on the report “Pandemic be damned, Dak Prescott hosts a party for 30.”
I mean if @CampbellSoupCo is going for the ignorant, selfish, entitled, above it all target market, then by all means keep @dak as your pitchman. Health-conscious consumers, maybe not so much. https://t.co/Wsdjg5KqJ4

As someone who as starting QB of The Dallas Cowboys, is looked to as a leader in the community and wants to be paid like it… @dak has pulled some bonehead moves this off season. This might be the biggest of them all. He is risking his health and the health of dozens more. https://t.co/rl0uw3oGMv

@dak. IF reports are true, and you hosted a party for 40 people or so, you are an entitled moron

Prosper, Texas police responded to TMZ after the story was initially published:
Prosper PD tells TMZ Sports it responded to a report of a potential party at Dak’s home. However, “the officer was unable to verify the report of a ‘party’; therefore, he just reminded the resident of the current CDC guidelines — to include social distancing.”
The cops didn’t break up a party at Dak Prescott’s house, but let any avg AMERICAN try to throw a party. Citations would be flying…… https://t.co/iokjmZKudc

The Fort Worth Star-Telegram points out that this isn’t Prescott’s first time disregarding pandemic guidelines, as he has recently worked out in gyms with Dez Bryant and posed arm-to-arm.
