Last year, Dak Prescott was voted by his Dallas Cowboys teammates to serve as a captain for the first time in his NFL career. Now, the former Mississippi State quarterback has earned that distinction again.

The Cowboys announced on Wednesday that Prescott will be one of their five captains, along with guard Zack Martin, linebacker Sean Lee, defensive end Tyrone Crawford and punter Chris Jones.

Prescott is entering his third season with the Cowboys. He has passed for 6,991 yards and 45 touchdowns over his first two years.

Prescott led the Cowboys to a 13-3 season during his rookie year in 2016, but they fell to 9-7 last season, missing out on the playoffs. The former Bulldog will be looking to return to the postseason and earn his first career playoff win this year.

The Cowboys open the season against the Carolina Panthers on Sunday at 4:25 p.m. ET.
