Dallas selected the former Bulldogs quarterback with the No. 135 overall pick.

Cowboys coach Jason Garrett gushed at length about Prescott when Dallas discussed its draft selections with the media:

“You have to look at his production first and what he did down there. He won a lot of games at Mississippi State. He and others took that team to the No. 1 ranking. If you ask a lot of people there – coaches and players – he’s just one of those guys that they feel has such great intangible qualities. He’s a great leader, positively impacts everybody there, has played big in big games and done a lot of really great things on the field. Physically, he’s big. He’s strong. He can throw it. He can run. He’s a very experienced player… When you talk to people at Mississippi State, line one is intangible qualities and leadership. He has such a positive impact on his teammates. You add that to his athletic ability and there is a lot to get excited about.”
