Mike Leach has yet to name a starting quarterback for the 2021 season.
As a true freshman, Will Rogers started MSU’s final six games, leading the Bulldogs to victory in the Armed Forces Bowl. Though Leach has praised Rogers’ growth during the offseason, the incumbent starter hasn’t been named QB1 for Game 1.
In Saturday’s scrimmage, Chance Lovertich bested Rogers in the box score. Crissy Froyd shared the numbers:
QB stats from today’s Mississippi State scrimmage (kept by the ever so reliable @Theo_DeRosa):
Will Rogers: 11-of-20, 79 yards, TD (Jaden Walley)
Chance Lovertich: 19-of-30, 152 yards, TD (Austin Williams)

While those two are considered the contenders for the starting job, MSU has other QBs. Froyd shared more numbers and observations from the scrimmage:
Other guys outside of the two front runners for the starting gig this season:
Daniel Greek: 5-of-8, 63 yards, 2 INT.
Sawyer Robertson: 6-of-8, 52 yards, TD (Teddy Knox).
Robertson looks the part of an Air Raid QB, lots of promise. Greek seems to have faltered since spring. https://t.co/JTYEJa8pnA
