After two seasons as head coach at Mississippi State, it looks like Joe Moorhead will go back to being an offensive coordinator.

Multiple outlets are reporting that Moorhead will be the new offensive coordinator at Oregon. Mario Cristobal’s Ducks are coming off of a trip to the Rose Bowl and a No. 5 ranking in the final AP Top 25 poll, released Tuesday.

Moorhead was most recently an offensive coordinator at Penn State in the 2016-17 seasons. Sports Illustrated and Yahoo named Moorhead college football’s top assistant for the 2017 season. Moorhead’s innovative, high-powered offense at Penn State led to him getting the Mississippi State head coaching job after Dan Mullen’s departure. Moorhead will be replacing Marcus Arroyo, who is taking over as the new head coach at UNLV.

Earlier on Tuesday, some speculated that Moorhead might follow departing LSU assistant Joe Brady to the Carolina Panthers. Moorhead was fired from MSU on Jan. 3, 2020.
