In many respects, Mississippi State quarterback Nick Fitzgerald is one of the best signal callers around. In fact, in several categories, he’s in the top 10 of the SEC.

Fitzgerald has excelled running the ball in four straight wins for the Bulldogs as he’s collected at least 100 yards in each game.

But one area that CFB Film Room found is still a struggle for Fitzgerald. That’s passes longer than 20 yards where he is just 7-for-36, which means a 19 percent completion rate with three touchdowns and an interception.

Fitzherald will get a chance to improve on that stat against No. 1 and undefeated Alabama when the 7-2 Bulldogs play host to the Crimson Tide on Saturday.

Last year, Fitzgerald had a dismal game in a 51-3 loss to Alabama. He was 10-for-33 for 145 yards and an interception.
