Mike Leach has finally landed an SEC job.

After nearly landing the Tennessee job that ultimately went to Jeremy Pruitt, Leach has been hired by Mississippi State according to multiple reports. The news was first shared by Pete Thamel of Yahoo Sports.

Leach has been at Washington State since the 2012 season and was previously the head coach at Texas Tech from 2000-2009. During his two head coaching stops, Leach has racked up a 139-90 overall record.

Considering his successful track record at programs that historically don’t have much success and their status as relative outposts, Leach makes a ton of sense for the Bulldogs.

Leach replaces Joe Moorhead, who was dismissed by Mississippi State after only two seasons in Starkville.

Mississippi State AD John Cohen just shared this video confirming the news.
