Joe Moorhead’s squad will be down a few players for Saturday’s season-opener in the Superdome.

Mississippi State announced that the following seven players have been suspended for the game against Louisiana due to a violation of team rules:

  • DT Lee Autry
  • K Jace Christmann
  • LB Willie Gay Jr.
  • WR Devonta Jason
  • OL Kwatrivous Johnson
  • S Marcus Murphy
  • OL Michael Story

The most notable suspensions are to Christmann and Gay. With Christmann out, Jordan Lawless will be the starting placekicker Saturday. Meanwhile, at Will LB, Leo Lewis will get the start in Gay’s absence.

While you never want to have players suspended, MSU should not be on upset alert against the Ragin Cajuns. The Bulldogs are listed as 19-point favorites on the Vegas Insider consensus.
