Mississippi State landed its latest commitment for the class of 2022 by reaching into Tennessee and landing 3-star wide receiver Kaydin Pope, who had a reported 23 offers.

The Bulldogs beat out Auburn and Tennessee for his pledge. Pope is listed at 6 feet and a half, and 175 pounds. He’s from Savannah, Tennessee (Hardin County), and rated the No. 21 player in the state of Tennessee, and the No. 89 wide receiver in this class, according to the 247Sports Composite. He was recruited by Dave Nichol and is the 17th recruit to join the MSU class.

Pope, helped lead Hardin County to a 10-1 record and to the second round of the TSSAA playoffs. Pope finished the season with 46 receptions, 1,203 receiving yards and 26 total touchdowns (3 rushing, 2 interception and 1 punt return) this season. He also has 23 tackles (19 solo), 8 pass deflections and 4 interceptions, the Jackson Sun reported.

“I think first and foremost Mississippi State is going to get a hard worker — that is a high character young man. Those are some of his biggest attributes,” his high school coach said. “From the football perspective, he has great athletic ability, some of the best hands for a receiver I have ever coached, he has good speed and quickness and is just a good overall football player.

Here are his highlights from Hudl:
