Cooper is an in-state prospect and attends Louisville High School in Louisville, Miss. He’s listed at 6-foot-4, 245 pounds.
He’s the No. 66 weak side defensive end and the No. 20 overall player in the state of Mississippi for the class of 2021, according to 247Sports Composite rankings.
Cooper chose the Bulldogs over offers from Colorado, Illinois, Ole Miss, Minnesota, Memphis and Tennessee, amongst others.
His pledge rounds out an outstanding recruiting class for Mississippi State. Mike Leach has the No. 25 class in the country and the 9 class in the SEC, according to 247Sports Composite rankings.
That class is led by nine players from the state of Mississippi.
The Bulldogs also signed two other players on the defensive line in this cycle: 3-star defensive end Deonte Anderson and 3-star defensive end Tre’Von Marshall.
Here’s highlights from Cooper’s junior season at Louisville High School:
I get Bennardrik McKinney vibes from this guy. He’s a DE vs a LB, but they kind of have the same low recruitment exposure with a high ceiling.
Reckon what happened to the RB from Ruston? Haven’t seen any news today.
No idea. I think the RB room is okay for next year and there is always a MS, LA, AL, GA RB in recruiting classes. I’m much more concerned about OL for the air raid next year.
Sounds like he will either fall into the 2021 or 2022 class depending on whether or not State can find 2 more DB transfers to finish the 2021 class.
