Mississippi State is undergoing a big change this offseason as the Bulldogs transition from Dan Mullen to new coach Joe Moorhead.

However, one constant is QB Nick Fitzgerald, who is feeling 100 percent after a gruesome ankle injury suffered on Thanksgiving. We know Fitzgerald can run the ball, but he’s working on his passing game to become even better this fall.

Fitzgerald said at SEC Media Days that not being able to tuck the ball and run during the spring forced him to become a better passer. He also added that he’s making some minor changes to his throwing motion (via 247Sports):

“I think so,” he said. “That along with what I’ve been working on over the summer to tweak my throwing motion should help a lot.

“Just working on my lower body, a few things with my off-hand. Very, very small tweaks that are going to end up making me more a more consistent and accurate passer.”

After spending the first part of his career working with noted QB guru Dan Mullen, it would be silly to change too much. But, if Moorhead can help him improve just a little bit, it will help his NFL stock rise.

Moorhead said at Media Days that he hoped to see Fitzgerald’s completion percentage rise to around the 65-percent mark. If he can do that, the sky is the limit for Mississippi State’s offense.
