On Sunday, Mississippi State coach Dan Mullen accepted Florida’s offer to become the next head coach of the Gators, leaving the Bulldogs searching for a new coach.

It’ll be interesting to see who ends up landing the job in Starkville, but candidates are already starting to emerge as the search gets underway.

According to FOX Sports/Sports Illustrated reporter Bruce Feldman, Michigan passing game coordinator Pep Hamilton is emerging as a candidate to replace Mullen at Mississippi State:

Of course, that tweet also says Hamilton is a candidate to replace Todd Graham at Arizona State, so it will be interesting to see what happens down the road.

One thing is for sure — the Bulldogs need to get their next hire right or else they will risk losing all the positive momentum Mullen has built up over the last few years.

Mississippi State is a player on a national level now, and not just any coach will be able to keep that going, especially in a tough division like the SEC West.
