The SEC has yet to register a win during Bowl Season in 2021. After Auburn, Florida, and Missouri all lost their postseason contests, Mississippi State is looking to avoid making it 0-4 for the conference thus far.

However, the Bulldogs trail Texas Tech 13-7 at the Liberty Bowl in Memphis.

The Bulldogs, who were 10-point favorites, entered the game with the SEC’s 3rd-ranked rushing defense as it had yielded just over 101 yards a game. But the Red Raiders have rolled up 179 yards on 28 carries through the first 2 quarters, just 24 yards short of the Bulldogs’ season-high of 202 yielded to Arkansas on Nov. 6.

And with the Red Raiders forced to punt late in the 2nd quarter, they got the ball back well inside Mississippi State territory after it was ruled to hit off a Bulldogs player. Texas Tech was held to a short field goal to take a 6-point lead into the locker room.

Meanwhile, Will Rogers is 10-of-17 for 102 yards despite a touchdown. While there’s still plenty of time remaining, that’s well off the pace for a player that averaged over 370 yards a game during the regular season.
