Brady Cook doesn’t want his squad to get written off in the wake of a 49-39 loss to No. 22 LSU. Playing No. 24 Kentucky (5-1) next only raises the stakes for Mizzou, Cook acknowledged.

“Yeah, it’s a big one for us, especially coming off of a loss,” Cook told reporters on Tuesday. “We’re going to have a chip on our shoulder, and we’re going to show it in practice.”

Mizzou (5-1) had a 5-0 record going into the LSU game but a blown fourth-quarter lead and 3 TDs surrendered spelled doom in Columbia. Cook threw for 411 yards and 2 TDs in that loss, but he also threw 2 interceptions.

“I think there was a lot of positives, but at the end of the day, it’s either a win or a loss,” Cook said. “So, it’s back to the drawing board, and you’re not going to hang your hat on moral victories when you lose.”

Kentucky likewise comes in after a loss but to No. 1 Georgia. The Wildcats proved to be no match for the defending national champions, but the Wildcats have won the past 2 matchups with Mizzou and 7 of the past 8, going back to 2015.
