Eli Drinkwitz took a jab at Arkansas on Friday, blaming the team for starting a scuffle in the first half of Mizzou’s 48-14 win on Friday.

In the 2nd quarter, the teams got into a scuffle and multiple players ended up being ejected. Drinkwitz was not pleased with the extracurriculars.

“We were here to play football. They were here to fight,” Drinkwitz said when asked about the incident.

Here’s video of the comment:

The fighting started when Missouri offensive lineman Cam’Ron Johnson continued to block Arkansas defensive lineman Zach Williams into the ground. Another Arkansas defensive lineman, John Morgan III, ran in and pushed Johnson to the ground. Missouri’s Armand Membou then appeared to throw a punch at Williams.  Arkansas defensive lineman Eric Gregory also appeared to throw a punch at Membou and ripped his helmet off in the process.

The Tigers rebounded quickly from the fighting and outscored the Razorbacks 28-14 in the 2nd half. The Razorbacks will end the season with a 4-8 record and will not make a bowl game for the 1st time since 2020.

The Tigers would end up dominating the Razorbacks, winning 48-14 and finishing the regular season with a 10-2 record.

Drinkwitz’s Tigers will now have an opportunity to be selected for a New Years 6 bowl.
