Kevin Coleman Jr., who spent the 2024 season at Mississippi State, signed with Mizzou on Saturday and will spend his final year of eligibility with the Tigers. It will be the wide receiver’s fourth college program in as many years.
Here’s the announcement from the Tigers’ X account:
It’s a homecoming for Coleman, a St. Louis native. His college career began at Jackson State with Deion Sanders, where he earned SWAC Freshman of the Year accolades after making 32 catches for 475 yards and 3 touchdowns.
When Sanders left to become Colorado’s head coach, Coleman entered the transfer portal, landing at Louisville in 2023. There, he made 26 catches for 362 yards and 2 touchdowns. He entered the portal a third time when the season ended, joining Mississippi State and making 74 catches for 932 yards and 6 touchdowns in 2024.
On Wednesday, though, Coleman announced his intention to transfer, immediately becoming one of the biggest available names in the portal. And ultimately, it was Mizzou who landed his services as it looks to challenge for a College Football Playoff in 2025.
The Tigers, though, will have a massive question mark at quarterback as Brady Cook’s eligibility ends after 2024. Backup quarterback Drew Pyne, who has 2 years of eligibility remaining, has not yet announced whether or not he will return to Columbia in 2025.
