Luther Burden III appeared to have suffered a shoulder injury in the 3rd quarter of Saturday’s game against UMass. Brady Cook, with the Tigers up 24-3, threw an ill-advised ball over the middle that forced Burden to take a massive hit to the shoulder, knocking him to the ground.
Burden stayed on the ground for a few seconds before gingerly walking off the field under his own power, though his arm was dangling. Burden went to the injury tent soon after and made his way to the locker room after about 5 minutes.
Trainers say they’re addressing his left shoulder. Burden is having his ankle tape removed and now sits on the sidelines without his helmet or pads. According to the live broadcast Burden is listed as questionable to return to this game but with the score sitting at 31-3 it would be surprising if he checks back in today.
Chris Gervino reports from the sideline that trainers are evaluating Luther Burden’s left shoulder. Linebacker Khalil Jacobs went to the locker room with an apparent right shoulder injury.

Burden is one of the best receivers in college football, to put it simply. He totaled 5 receptions for 59 yards while also toting the ball twice for 68 yards and a touchdown.
The Tigers lead UMass 31-3 with 8:51 remaining in the 4th quarter.
