Two teams experiencing disappointing seasons will meet in Columbia, Mo. on Saturday, and Missouri will have a special event for the 11 a.m. local time kickoff.

There will be a blackout at Faurot Field.

Perhaps the blackout will jumpstart the Tigers, who have won lopsided nonconference games over Idaho and Connecticut, with four games on the schedule as they search for bowl eligibility. The 3-5 Tigers are 0-4 in the SEC as the 3-4 Gators come in with interim coach Randy Shannon after they parted ways with Jim McElwain earlier this week.

Missouri needs to turn things around following SEC losses by an average of three touchdowns each to South Carolina, Auburn, Kentucky and Georgia.

“It’s very important to have clear, distinct goals for your guys and help them through the process with that,” coach Barry Odom said Monday, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. “This team, where we are at this point in the season, it’s really important to have one voice. That’s why we meet as a team so often. We need to focus on having a great Tuesday practice and prepare for what we have to do preparation-wise to wake up and have a great Wednesday. If we take it day by day that suits us better.”

It’s the second straight season Missouri will be the first opponent for a newly-named interim coach. Missouri played LSU last season a week after the school fired Les Miles and named Ed Orgeron interim coach.

After Florida, Missouri will face Tennessee, Vanderbilt and Arkansas.
