Missouri lands 18th commitment, as top JUCO prospect Daniel Robledo commits to Tigers
The Missouri Tigers landed their 18th commitment for the class of 2021 Monday afternoon.
Three-star JUCO defensive end Daniel Robledo committed to the Tigers over offers from Arizona, Boise State and Fresno State, among others.
He shared his commitment via social media.
“I’m moving forward with my decision,” Robledo said. “I chose this university for many reasons, and one of those many reasons is that it’s a great coaching staff. They’ve been there and loved me since the day they started recruiting me. They’re going to take me to the highest level of competition and bring me to my highest point as an athlete.
“With that being said, I’ll be taking my talents to the University of Missouri and be proud to become a Tiger.”

Robledo is from Tucson, Arizona, and he currently attends East Los Angeles College. The 6-foot-5, 280-pound end is ranked as the nation’s No. 7 overall JUCO prospect and the nation’s No. 1 weakside defensive end, according to 247Sports.

Nice pick up. Sounds like a good player.
Drink likes the big guys, 3 of the 4 DE’s in this class are 6’4″ or taller. Not too shabby landing both the #1 and #2 rated DE’s in JUCO. Well done coach!
4 defensive ends in this class, including our only 4 star guy. Walters has really honed in on D-backs and D-ends. Really need that to pay off. We had been recruiting a kid named Kyran Montgomery out of Indiana (3 star). I wonder if he’ll look elsewhere now.
18 commits already, they really need to pull back and start putting everything into the top targets. I know the rating systems are far from perfect, but there’s no denying that the teams that finish with highly ranked recruiting classes end up with more wins. Mizzou won’t finish as high as we currently are in the rankings once the other schools start pulling in their recruits, so our ranking is smoke and mirrors right now.
I disagree. 2 star 5 star we know as well as any fans it’s what they make of themselves when they get to this level. With the proper coaching some will jump pretty far in their abilities. I think the best thing is get the ones that know early they want to be here. Without leadership change most will stay. And you can always empty the locker room of 2 plus year players who have plateaued at a less than likely to play level to make room for the next man up. Scholarships are on a yearly basis and are for players looking to succeed not those looking for free school.
P5 Football scholarships cannot be pulled for any athletic reason. Essentially guaranteed with exception of character issues, academic reasons, etc…
Yes, it certainly is possible that some 3 star guys will turn out to be elite. But there’s a difference between guys with potential and guys that already have it. We have always recruited the “potential” guys, with moderate success. The schools that recruit top 20 classes are getting a larger percentage of guys who have a shorter path to greatness due to their talents.
Of course some schools squander their talent (Tennessee, Texas, aTm, etc) but that is rare. It takes pretty awful coaching to lose with those rosters.
We won’t be a consistent contender until we improve the recruiting.
I love this video far more than anything else I’ve seen in video committing. No BS, no games , no letting an ego out shine the man. Just gratitude and humble honesty. My favorite player already.
I had about the same reaction. Lower the “fluff” and bring the real “stuff”. No hype or gripe to him. A team needs leaders in every class and leaders need two strong feet on solid ground, not heads in movie-magic-land.
Hope Drinkz goes back to the full pressure end rush we had under Pinkel, no it’s not perfect but the results are far more often positive, college QB’s are pretty easy to rattle.
I’m Drinkzin to the return of the D-line Zoo!
I agree. That defense sucked against the run, but it generated sacks and interceptions like crazy. I’d take it.
When you get a team playing catch up you can sacrifice a little run D to take them out of the air. It was really Pinkels best job in the “strategy” dept, where he was often over matched elsewhere by other HC’s.
The Steck-led defense with D-line Zou for Mizzou is long gone. Ryan Walters remained the D-Coordinator for Mizzou from last year and he will be running the same 4-2-5 defense. That said, it’s about the DE’s and DT’s we recruit and coach up at this point.
Yeah, we know. It’s actually more about the DBs now, hence the 45 commits from DBs this year.
Kuligowski made a name for himself at the expense of Dave Steckel who had to figure out how to compensate for giving up the 3,4,5, and 6 hole on the line of scrimmage, left and right, every freakin play. Missouri scored 42 points against Auburn, way more than enough to win. But Steckel and Kuligowski gave Tre Mason 304 yards of rushing because the only people home were two inside D-linemen. TERRIBLE coaching. Instead of finishing 5th in the nation in 2013, Missouri should have beaten Florida State in the champion’s bowl game. Missouri had all the players but not a smart defense. Sure they were good at the pass rush but the Head Coach has to say “men we are in the big game, we have to stop the run first, before we show off our world class pass rush. Now lets go out and call a smart game, so I don’t have to take over your job in the middle of the game.
He looks to be an excellent addition. Drink and staff are really pulling in some good players. Seems like a solid character guy, too.
Td if you knew anything about Mizzou recruiting you would realize how uninformed you sound.
