Mizzou is bringing in an elite 2022 recruiting class, but it appears some of those guys are going to have to contribute sooner than expected.
On Thursday, the Tigers got some shocking news, as talented freshman DT Mekhi Wingo reportedly entered the transfer portal.
Power Mizzou broke the news on Twitter on Thursday morning:
Freshman DT Mekhi Wingo intends to transfer from #Mizzou. He is n yet officially in the portal.

Wingo had been praised by coach Eli Drinkwitz and several Tiger assistants for his solid 2021 campaign, in which he recorded 27 tackles (2 for a loss), 1 sack and also had an interception that he returned 40 yards for a touchdown.
This loss comes the same week the Tigers announced they’d landed Jayden Jernigan, a transfer defensive tackle from Oklahoma State. Jernigan and Darius Robinson will be counted on to fill the interior defensive line roles in 2022 now.
