Former 5-star recruit Terry Beckner Jr. was one of the best players to commit to Mizzou in the past decade, but the talented defensive tackle has had trouble staying on the field.

Sadly, Beckner has torn both of his ACLs, prematurely ending both his freshman and sophomore seasons. This year, though, he’s been healthy and has shown why he was so highly regarded during the recruiting process.

Based on what he showed on the field this year, it was fair for Mizzou fans to worry that he might make the jump to the NFL Draft and forgo his senior year. However, on Friday, he put those fears to rest, announcing that he’d return for one more year in Columbia:

While playing all 12 regular-season games this year, Beckner has racked up 35 total tackles (10.5 for a loss) and seven sacks. He also has an interception, which he returned 49 yards.

Having him back will be a huge boost to coach Barry Odom’s defense, and it’s entirely possible that Beckner could be a first-round pick in the 2019 NFL Draft.
