The NCAA Softball Women’s College World Series is down to the final 2 teams — Oklahoma and Texas. The Sooners and Longhorns will play a best-of-3 series for the national title on June 8 – 10.

On Monday, UCLA had to beat Oklahoma twice to advance to the national title. The Bruins beat the Sooners the first game 7-3; however, Jocelyn Alo recorded 4 hits and seven RBIs in the second game to lead OU past UCLA 15-0.

Texas also had to defeat Oklahoma State twice on Monday, and the Longhorns did just that. Texas beat OSU in consecutive games 5-0 and 6-5 to advance to the national title to face Oklahoma.

Sixty four teams entered the tournament which began May 20, 2022, and the Women’s College World Series is set to start on Thursday, June 2, 2022. Thirty-two teams were originally selected on an at-large basis by the Division I Softball Committee. Sixteen teams were seeded and placed at one of the 16 regional sites. The regional site winners advanced to a best-of-3 Super Regionals. The winners of the Super Regionals advanced to the World Series.

Where we currently stand

  • UCLA took Oklahoma to the wire by defeating Oklahoma in the first game of Monday’s game 7-3. The Bruins had to defeat the Sooners twice.
  • Oklahoma came back and dominated UCLA 15-0 in the second game, as Jocelyn Alo hit 2 homeruns.
  • Texas blanked Oklahoma State 5-0 in the first game, and the Longhorns also defeated the Cowgirls 6-5 in the second game to advance to the national championship.
  • Oklahoma and Texas will play a best-of-3 series for the national title June 8 – 10.
