Underdog’s DFS model is really easy to understand. While major sports betting apps are considered games of chance, Underdog and other DFS contests are considered games of skill.

So, how do you play? Just research your favorite players, matchups and advantages for a specific game and make player picks against a certain spread. Play statistical categories such as hits, runs, home runs, strikeouts, total bases, etc.

Underdog Picks for CFB Week 8

Here’s a look at our favorite picks for this weekend’s action:

Ryan Williams, Alabama WR: Higher 48.5 receiving yards

Ryan Williams has had a bit of a rough start to his sophomore season, but this is the perfect game for a notable bounce back. The Vols are a good team, but their secondary is definitely a weak spot with 2 top corners out. Williams will likely be away from Colton Hood for the start of this one, so that helps an already low line.

Mason Heintschel, Pitt QB: Higher than 281.5 passing yards

Heintschel has been great for the Panthers this season, and he’s facing a hapless Syracuse squad that has a flat tire. Heintschel’s first 2 games: 322 yards against Boston College and 321 yards against Florida State. He’s averaging about 9 yards per attempt and Pitt has a pass play rate of 55%, which ranks 23rd nationally.

LJ Martin, BYU RB: Higher 104.5 rushing + receiving yards

Utah’s pass defense is legit, but there’s a lot to be desired against the run. Consequentially, BYU’s LJ Martin should be able to break a few, but that’s not even the only reason I like this pick. Bear Bachmeier is a freshman QB and while he’s been (surprisingly) good this season, Utah’s secondary is going to make life difficult for him. Martin should get a decent number of receptions as a safety blanket because of this.  A quick reminder: Martin is averaging 6.5 yards per carry, and Utah is allowing a little over 142 yards per game on the ground.
