Things have a way of getting weird when you’re playing baseball late at night at a neutral site. The latest example comes from the ACC Baseball Tournament.
Boston College and Virginia faced off Wednesday night in second-round action in Durham, North Carolina. The Eagles broke the scoring ice in the top of the 1st inning, and someone got the celebration started a bit too early. The Durham Bulls Athletic Park lights went off while the play was still active.

As it turned out, the excitement was just getting started. No. 14 seed Boston College would score 5 runs in the top of the 1st inning en route to a 12-8 upset of 6-seed Virginia. With the win, the Eagles advance to Friday’s quarterfinals, taking on 3-seed North Carolina.
The ACC Baseball Tournament is set for 2 quarterfinal games on Thursday. No. 1 seed Georgia Tech faces 16-seed Cal at 3 p.m. ET in Game 9. Game 10 features 4-seed NC State against 5-seed Clemson at 7 p.m. ET. Both games are set to air on the ACC Network.
