Alabama baseball coach Rob Vaughn inks contract extension with Crimson Tide
After 2 years on the job, Alabama baseball coach Rob Vaughn has signed an extension to remain with the program long-term.
Alabama’s NIL collective, Yea Alabama, confirmed that news late Tuesday evening. Vaughn helped guide the Crimson Tide to a 41-18 record and an NCAA Tournament appearance in 2025.
“We are thankful to have Rob Vaughn as our head baseball coach and look forward to seeing the program’s success under his watch,” Alabama athletic director Greg Byrne said in a statement to Yea Alabama. “He has been an incredible addition to our coaching cohort and we are thrilled to reach an agreement to keep him and his family in Tuscaloosa for years to come. Not only is he a fantastic coach, but he is an even better man and leader of our young men.”
Vaughn was initially hired by Byrne after he spent 6 seasons as Maryland’s head coach. He led the Terps to 3 consecutive NCAA Tournament bids prior to making the move to Tuscaloosa. He’s also now led Alabama to the NCAA Tournament in back-to-back campaigns.
According to a report from D1Baseball, Texas A&M vetted Vaughn and 2 other coaches behind-the-scenes for its head coaching role before deciding to stick with Michael Earley for the 2026 college baseball season.
Alabama will enter the 2026 campaign with significant expectations in Vaughn’s 3rd year at the helm. Financial details on Vaughn’s new deal have not yet been disclosed.
