Alabama baseball picks up huge home win over Ole Miss in top-25 showdown

The 18th-ranked Alabama baseball team earned a huge home victory over 15th-ranked Ole Miss on Thursday night, downing the Rebels 5-4 in front of 3,700 at Sewell-Thomas Stadium in Tuscaloosa.
Alabama 36-17 overall, 17-11 SEC) has won four straight games and is just a half-game behind Texas for second in the SEC standings, while Ole Miss (35-19, 14-14) fell to 6-9 in road games this season. The two teams resume the weekend series Friday night (7 pm ET, SEC Network+).

The Crimson Tide’s pitching combination of starter Tyler Fay (9-3) and reliever Matthew Heiberger combined to strike out 16 Rebels in the victory. Fay scattered seven hits over seven innings and struck out 11, while Heiberger earned her fourth save of the season by punching out five in the final two innings.
Bryce Fowler went 3-for-5 with an RBI and two runs scored, and Justin LeBron belted a two-run homer for Alabama. Dom Decker and Tristan Bissetta each hit solo home runs for Ole Miss. Hayden Federico and Austin Fawley each had two hits for the Rebels.
Hunter Elliott (5-3) took the loss for Ole Miss, allowing four runs in five innings with eight strikeouts.
