Auburn went from allowing 10 runs in the first few innings against Milwaukee to scoring 8 runs in the first inning of Saturday’s 17-13 win over NC State. With that, the Wolfpack are now eliminated from the Auburn regional as the Tigers live to fight another day.

It was a home run derby for Tigers batters Ethin Bingaman and Cade Belyeu, who each mashed 2 home runs on the day while combining for 6 hits, 7 RBIs and 6 runs across 11 at-bats. Not a bad day at the office.

While Bingaman and Belyeu added the necessary cushion, Chase Fralick started it all off. His 3-run shot put the Tigers on top just 12 pitches into the game.

Neither pitching staff put together performances they’d like to remember, but NC State’s Cooper Consiglio learned firsthand why Auburn is considered one of the best teams in the country. The Wolfpack starter recorded just one out while allowing 6 hits, 2 home runs, 8 runs, a walk and a hit by pitch. Just like that, the Tigers led 8-0 and would tack on 2 more the following inning.

Despite trailing 10-0 entering the bottom of the 2nd, NC State refused to go away. The Wolfpack posted 2 runs in the 2nd, then a 5-spot in the 3rd to make the game respectable at 10-7.

Then Cade Bleyeu decided to break NC State’s heart again by hitting a 3-run shot to kick off a 5-spot of Auburn’s own in the 6th. Now leading 17-7, Auburn was able to coast to its first win of the tournament.

The Tigers will face the loser of Milwaukee vs. UCF, which is set to start at 8 p.m. ET.
