Auburn is not off to a good start in its opening-round matchup against Milwaukee.

The Tigers opted to start Friday night starter Jake Marciano, but he did not record an out in the 2nd inning before being bounced. He was tagged for 8 hits and 6 earned runs, putting Auburn in a serious hole to start the day.

Things did not immediately improve as Marciano’s replacement, LJ Cormier, surrendered 4 earned runs in the top of the 4th inning to give Milwaukee a 10-0 lead over Auburn.

Milwaukee’s Charlie Marion hit the 3-run homer to make it a 10-0 game:

This would be a disastrous loss for Auburn. A defeat would send the Tigers to the loser’s bracket where they would have to win 4 consecutive games in order to win the regional.

The loser of this opening round game will face off against the loser of UCF and NC State on Saturday.

Auburn is trying to make it back to the College World Series for the first time since 2022.
