Brayden Randle delivers 2-run homer as Ole Miss looks to keep season alive

Ole Miss’s early 2-0 lead in its College World Series elimination game against Troy didn’t last long, as the Trojans’ Sean Darnell responded with a two-run home run in the top of the second inning to tie it at two.
Brayden Randle, though, had his own answer in the bottom of the frame.
After Alex Fawley ran the count full, he got aboard with a leadoff single. That brought up Randle, who smacked a 0-2 pitch into the stands in right field to give the Rebels a 4-2 lead.
Randle didn’t quite reach the 400-foot mark with this one, but it didn’t take all that long to leave, going out at 100 mph.
Randle homered for just the fourth time this season. It came at a good time as Ole Miss is trying to keep their season alive. The Rebels dropped into the elimination bracket after losing to North Carolina 6-2 on Friday night. Troy, in its first CWS appearance, fell 7-5 to West Virginia in its opening game.
The winner of this one will move on to Tuesday, when they will take on the loser of the West Virginia/North Carolina winner’s bracket game. First pitch for that one is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET in Omaha.
