Chris Hacopian was the third SEC player off the board on Saturday at the 2026 MLB Draft. The former Texas A&M infielder was selected No. 11 overall by the Washington Nationals.
That’s a big moment for Texas A&M baseball. Hacopian is now the highest-drafted position player in Aggies history, passing Braden Montgomery who was selected No. 12 overall in 2024.
Hacopian is the 16th Aggie selected in the first round of the MLB Draft, according to TexAgs. He also marks 3 consecutive first round selections for the Aggies across the past 3 seasons, joining Braden Montgomery and Jace LaViolette.

Hacopian played 42 games at Texas A&M after starting his NCAA career at Maryland. He played 2 seasons for the Terrapins and earned a pair of second-team All-Big Ten selections before transferring ahead of this past 2026 season.
While with the Aggies, Hacopian slashed .319/.405/.578 with 53 hits, 11 doubles and 10 home runs, earning first-team All-SEC honors.
Hacopian grew up in Potomac, Maryland, which is located just 20 miles from Nationals Park.
