The SEC has long worn the crown of best football conference. Over the past couple seasons, it has done its best to earn it in basketball. Anyone who wishes to dispute those sports, though, has no argument when it comes to baseball.

As we near the end of March, D1Baseball has released its latest top 25 rankings. The publication has 10 SEC squads in its top 25 this week, 4 more than the next closest conference (ACC). SEC teams also hold 6 of the top 10 spots:

The Longhorns shockingly lost at home 6-1 to Tarleton State on Tuesday, but rebounded by winning a series over Auburn on the road. That accomplishment allowed them to remain just behind UCLA for the top spot. The Tigers, by virtue of their 4-3 series-opening win, weren’t punished for dropping the next 2 games to the Longhorns.

Ole Miss is the only new SEC entrant to this week’s rankings. The Rebels handed Texas its first loss earlier this month, then beat then-No. 15 Kentucky in a series over the weekend. Their success vaulted them above the Wildcats in the top 25.

Florida fell out of this week’s top 25 after being swept at Alabama. The Gators have an opportunity to fly back up the rankings this week with a Tuesday game against No. 10 Florida State and a weekend series at No. 4 Arkansas.
