Georgia finished off a three-game sweep of Mizzou on Sunday, cruising to a 14-4 run-rule win in seven innings to increase its lead atop the SEC standings.
Like Saturday’s 13-3, eight-inning win, this one wasn’t particularly close. In the bottom of the second inning, with two outs and a runner on second base, Ryan Black stroked a two-run home run over the wall in right center field to give the Bulldogs a 2-0 lead.
Georgia blew it open in the bottom of the third as it sent 13 men to the plate, scoring seven runs on Rylan Luko’s RBI double and a pair of three-run homers from Bryce Calloway and Tre Phelps that made it 9-0.
The Tigers scored two in the top of the fourth before the Dawgs pushed across four of their own in the bottom of the frame, all with two out. Black scored Calloway from second with an RBI single before Kolby Branch’s towering three-run shot over the batter’s eye in center field upped Georgia’s lead to 13-2.
The Bulldogs added one more in the fifth before the Tigers tacked on runs in the sixth and seventh. But this one was all Georgia. It outscored Mizzou 31-7 during the series.
Caden Aoki improved to 7-0 as he went 6.0 innings, allowing three runs on five hits while striking out eight and walking two. Keyler Gonzalez lasted just 2.1 innings, giving up six runs on seven hits with a walk and three strikeouts on his ledger.
Georgia hosts LSU in its next weekend series. Mizzou welcomes Vanderbilt beginning on Friday.
