Kentucky has made life miserable for Oklahoma in Lexington this weekend. After taking down the Sooners, 4-3, in Friday’s series opener, Kentucky did it to Oklahoma again on Saturday afternoon with an 8-5 victory that locked up a series victory over the team that’s ranked 16th nationally by Baseball America.

The Sooners jumped ahead with 2 runs in the top of the first on Saturday, but it was all Wildcats after that, as UK put up 4 runs in the bottom of the first, added another run in the second and 3 more in the 5th. Kentucky baseball’s social media account celebrated Saturday’s win and the series win with this video:

Oklahoma fell to 32-16 overall and saw its SEC record drop back to .500 at 13-13. Meanwhile, Kentucky improved to 27-20 and 12-14 in the league, just 1 game behind the Sooners in the standings.

Nic McCay earned the victory for the Wildcats, keeping his record perfect this season at 5-0. Ethan Walker closed things down for the Wildcats by earning his first save of the season.

Cade Crossland lasted just 3 innings for the Sooners and took the loss to fall to 4-3. He allowed 5 earned runs on 3 hits and 4 walks, and he also hit 2 Kentucky batters.

Ryan Schwartz had a big hit for Kentucky during its first-inning explosion, a 2-out single to left field that scored Patrick Herrera and gave UK a 4-2 lead. From there, it was smooth sailing for the Wildcats, who will go for the 3-game sweep of the Sooners on Sunday afternoon.
