LSU baseball adds elite transfer commit, potential starting shortstop
LSU baseball may have its starting shortstop for the 2027 season.
The Tigers added a commitment from former Texas State star Dawson Park on Friday morning. Park put up big numbers for the Bobcats this season and is regarded as an elite defender at shortstop.
“This day couldn’t come soon enough,” Park wrote on social media in his commitment announcement. “To say I am blessed, thankful, and excited doesn’t do my emotions justice.”

As a sophomore at Texas State, Park hit .301 with 13 home runs in 48 games with the Bobcats. He also stole 9 bases and drew 25 walks. He’s also capable of making big plays on defense:
As noted by D1Baseball’s Kendall Rogers, Park was “removed” from Texas State’s team near the end of the 2026 season. Park was reportedly dismissed in May following an altercation with a teammate.
LSU is hoping to take a significant step forward next season after missing out on the NCAA Tournament in 2026.
