The LSU baseball team continued its descent in the SEC standings Friday night, falling to ninth-ranked Florida 11-1 in seven innings in front of 10,759 at Alex Box Stadium in Baton Rouge.

The loss marked the fifth straight setback for LSU (29-26 overall, 9-20 SEC), which is locked into the 14th seed heading into next weekโ€™s SEC Tournament in Hoover, Ala. Florida (36-18, 17-12) has won three straight games and improved to 13-5 on the road in 2026 heading into Saturdayโ€™s series finale (3 pm ET, SEC Network+).

Florida held LSU to just three hits Friday night due to a sterling performance from starting pitcher Liam Peterson (2-5), who also struck out 11 Tigers and issued just one walk en route to the complete-game victory.

Ethan Surowiec provided all the offense Florida needed, belting an RBI double in the first and adding a two-run homer to center field in the fifth. Cash Strayer blasted a three-run homer, Brendan Lawson ripped a two-run homer and Landon Stripling added a solo shot for the Gators.

LSUโ€™s lone run came in the fourth via a Steven Milam solo homer. Tigers starter Marcos Paz (1-4) took the loss. The Tigers are slotted to play the 11th seed in the opening round of the SEC Tournament on Tuesday. Florida is still vying for one of the top four seeds and a double bye into the quarterfinals.
