Auburn, the No. 4 national seed in the 2026 NCAA Baseball Tournament, will face elimination on Saturday. The Tigers were stunned by the Auburn Regional’s 4-seed Milwaukee 13-8 in Friday’s opener.

An automatic-bid winner, Milwaukee entered the game with a 25-31 overall record. The Panthers had the No. 238 RPI, while Auburn was top-5 in the nation.

The Panthers jumped out to a shocking 10-0 lead early on The Plains and managed to hold on for a 13-8 victory.

The Tigers were out-hit 16-9 in the game. Starting pitcher Jake Marciano, the ace of the Auburn staff, was pulled in the 2nd inning after allowing 6 earned runs on 8 hits, facing 10 Milwaukee batters.

Losing opener puts Auburn in a tough position to keep its postseason hopes alive. The Tigers are now in the loser’s bracket, where they would need to win 4 games over the next 3 games to win the Auburn Regional and advance to a Super Regional.

Auburn will play an elimination game Saturday against the loser of the UCF-NC State game.
