Oklahoma erupted for five runs in the third inning and seven runs in the fourth to rout The Citadel, 15-5, and move on to the Atlanta Regional final.
Jason Walk’s leadoff home run put the Sooners up 1-0 in the first, and it stayed that way into the third before they brought in five runs. Oklahoma loaded the bases with no one out before Citadel pitcher Bryce Coulter retired the next two batters. After Coulter walked a run home, Brendan Brock and Dasan Harris came up with back-to-back two-run singles to make it a 6-0 ballgame.
The Sooners added seven more in the fifth to go up 13-0. With the bases loaded and nobody out, Deiten Lachance singled in a run before Liam Foley walked Jaxon Willits to up the lead to 8-0. Then, Gambill’s two-run double, followed by a Brock walk and RBI groundouts by Harris and Dayton Tockey made it 12-0 before Kyle Branch’s single made it 13-0.
The Bulldogs added two in the fourth, two in the sixth, and one in the seventh, but this one was all Oklahoma.
Brock, Gambill, and Harris ended with three RBI apiece. Brock went 3-of-4 from the plate. Nick Weslowski went seven innings, allowing five runs (three earned) and six hits while striking out four and walking two.
The Sooners now move on to the final, where they will need to defeat host Georgia Tech twice to claim a spot in Super Regionals for the first time since 2022.
