It took much longer than originally scheduled, but Ole Miss finished off Nebraska, 6-3, to move on to the Lincoln Regional final. The game started on Saturday night and was suspended in the eighth inning due to rain.

After going down 1-0 in the fourth inning, the Rebels went to work in the top of the sixth. With two out, Owen Paino’s RBI double put Ole Miss up 2-1. After Paino moved to third on a wild pitch and Austin Fawley reached on a walk, Brayden Randle made it 3-1 on a run-scoring single.

In the seventh, Ole Miss’s lead grew to 5-1 after Nebraska pitcher Caleb Clark walked in a pair of runs with two out, then added another run in the eighth on a Cornhuskers error. Max Buttenback’s two-run shot pulled the Huskers within 6-3 in the bottom of the frame before the rain put the game on hold, but Jalen Worthley slammed the door when the game started back on Sunday afternoon to send the Rebels through to the final.

Ole Miss has had a couple of long nights in Lincoln. Its 7-6 win over Arizona State to open regional action ended at around 1:30 a.m. local time early Saturday morning. Hours later, the Rebels’ game against the Huskers was put on hold at 10:20 p.m. CT before eventually being suspended three minutes before midnight.

Now, though, their attention turns to the regional final, which is scheduled for 6 p.m. CT.
